In this gathering we will be doing the our second investigation of the work of Quincy Jones via his work as an arranger on Frank Sinatra’s Sinatra at the Sands. Recorded in 1966, this album reflects a different kind of musicianship and entertainment than we are used to now. The role of arranger is not so prevalent in most modern popular music and Quincy describes the skillset and mindset needed to be up to par. These arrangements are very tasty and we will be able to talk some about orchestration and harmony in a way that is almost lost in today’s soundscape.
